Course Overview

Build Confidence and Find the Right Level for Your Maths Qualification

This short introductory course helps you understand your current maths skills and find the most suitable starting point before joining a Functional Skills Maths qualification. It’s designed to be friendly, supportive and practical, ensuring the level you move on to is challenging but manageable.

The duration of the courses is one hour a week for three weeks.

What you’ll learn

  • Build confidence using numbers, including basic arithmetic, decimals, fractions, percentages and ratios
  • Explore everyday measures, shapes, time and money, including converting between units
  • Learn how to interpret information and data, such as averages, probability and graphs

The skills you will learn will prepare you to move confidently into a full Functional Skills maths qualification.

Will I have to pay for courses?
The majority of our courses are free, subject to the criteria listed. For advanced level accredited courses, there is a fee-paying option available if a learner does not meet the criteria for a free course.
