How your learning can progress

Your journey is flexible and designed to work around you. You can begin at a level that feels right and take things at your own pace.

You might begin with a short, non-accredited course — a great way to try something new, build confidence, and develop practical skills in a supportive environment.

Move on to recognised qualifications

When you’re ready, you can progress to accredited courses at Level 1 or Level 2. These help you build knowledge, develop your skills further, and gain qualifications that support your next step.

Take your next step forward

From there, many learners move on to:

• Higher-level qualifications
• Further study or specialist training
• Employment or career progression opportunities

Each course builds on what you’ve already achieved, helping you keep moving forward.

Progression in ESOL

If you’re learning English, your journey may look slightly different but the support is the same every step of the way.

You can start with:

• Non-accredited ESOL classes to build confidence and everyday communication skills

Then move on to:

• Accredited ESOL qualifications
• Functional Skills in English and maths

These help you progress into further study, employment, or everyday life with greater confidence.
