This qualification aims to introduce you to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills.
It’s suitable for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills in either a work or a personal capacity, such as those who wish to progress towards further qualifications or who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (e.g. health and social care, learning and development or voluntary/community work).
Introduction to Counselling
This session is designed to help you decide if a full accredited Level 2 Counselling course is right for you. You must attend this introduction before you can join the accredited course.
It will give you insights into:
- What is Counselling?
- Key helping skills
- Self-Awareness
- What the counselling level 2 course entails
No previous knowledge/experience is needed. You must attend the introduction course before attending the accredited course.

Counselling Level 2
Evening course available
This 12 week, online accredited course will provide you with an introduction into the specialism of counselling, whether that be for work or in a personal capacity. You must attend the introduction course before attending the accredited course.
The objectives of this qualification is to help learners to:
- Develop counselling skills
- Understand the different approaches involved in the use of counselling skills
- Appreciate the importance of self-development
No previous knowledge/experience is needed.
N.B Prior to enrolment you will need to undertake an initial assessment in English where you must achieve either Level 1 or Level 2 results. You must also be able to complete self-study exercises between classroom assignments.
Qualification Upon Successful Completion: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

These courses are free for those who meet all the following funding requirements:
– you live in a London /Greater London Borough*
– you are not in full time education
– you have not achieved this qualification before
– you are aged 19 or older on 31st August 2024
-Have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning
If you don’t have permission to live in the UK for 12 months from the first day of learning there are exemptions which can be discussed with the IAG advisor that will contact you.
