Wandsworth Council Lifelong Learning is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We have identified the following issues which affect a small number of pages:

  • Some PDF documents have elements that do not have sufficient colour contrast (WCAG 1.4.3, Contrast).
  • Some tables in PDF documents should be tagged to give information such as row and column titles (WCAG 1.3.1, Info and Relationships: tables).
  • Some PDF pages page need a name that sufficiently to describes the purpose of the page (WCAG 2.4.2, Page Title).
  • Some PDF documents with non-text elements need alternative text adding (WCAG 1.1.1, Non-text content).

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations:

PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23rd September 2018 unless they are essential to providing our services. For those that are essential to providing services, we plan to either fix or replace them with accessible HTML pages by the end of 2024. All new documents will be checked for accessibility at the point of publication.

Videos
Some of our older videos do not meet accessibility standards because they do not have captions. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix videos published before 23 September 2020. Any new videos we publish will include captions.

Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We have undertaken an accessibility audit to discover issues with our site in relation to the The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 19 January 2024. It was last reviewed on 19 January 2024. This website was last tested in January 2024. The test was carried out by our Digital Team. We took a sample of pages across the site that contained the essential functionality of the site; that reflected typical user journeys and the varying technologies in use and tested them against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.

This test sample included: the homepage, landing pages and a cross-section of content pages containing tables, calls to action, forms, external links, internal links, landing pages, images, charts, videos and unique features. Each page was tested and checked with different browsers. We used several tools to assist in the audit of our website:

  • SiteImprove
  • AxeDevTools
  • Wave Evaluation
  • Chrome Screenreader
  • W3C Markup Validation Service
  • Adobe Acrobat Accessibility checker

Following our last audit we have fixed a number of issues and have a programme of work to resolve those that remain.
